Abstract
Although many organizations use cloud computing to improve their operational capabilities, only a few use it to pursue dynamic capabilities. Dynamic capabilities refer to the firm´s ability to integrate, build, and reconfigure organizational competences to address business challenges posed by rapidly changing environments and achieve competitive advantage. Based on a study involving senior IT executives in 14 organizations that are engaged in novel uses of cloud computing, the authors present recommendations on the use of cloud computing to achieve dynamic capabilities. This article is part of a special issue on advancing cloud computing.
