Abstract
A novel method for fast determination of nicotine in human plasma and urine was introduced by using high performance liquid chromatography ( HPLC) coupled with ionic liquid based liquid phase microextraction (LPME) technique for sample preparation. Some effective parameters on extraction including extraction solvent, pH of donor phase, extraction time, extraction temperature and stirring speed was investigated. The nicotine enrichment factor was 18 under optimum conditions. The linear range was 0.1-50 μg/mL with a squared regression coefficient of 0.9981 and the detection limit was 0.05 μg/mL (S/N=3). The recoveries of spiked samples range from 91.1% to 99.4% with a relative standard deviation lower than 5.0%.
