  • Abstract
In this study, hyaluronic acid (HA) and collagen(type I) were chosen to be coated alternately onto the elastin membranes surface via layer-by-layer assembly. The preparation of elastin membranes, the layer-by-layer deposition of HA and collagen, the evolution of the elastin membranes surface topography throughout the mulitilayer construction process and the gradual buildup procedure of the HA/collagen film were described. A uniform linear growth with alternate deposition of the two polyelectrolytes is observed. The modified elastin membranes were expected to have a great impact in the design of artificial extracellular matrixes.
