Abstract
For increasing power in wind turbines some manufactories introduce synchronous generators. For variably generator speed converters are needed for the connection to the utility grid. This paper describes a boost converter as an alternative to six pulse full converters. The function is documented from laboratory measurements on a 4.5kVA system. In this paper a short introduction of the theory is given. In the laboratory investigation the focus is on the relationship between the duty ratio of the boost converter and the speed of the generator. A short explanation of unexpected current spikes in the measurements is given.
