Abstract :
The paper presents a direct implementation for the static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) in power-flow analysis based on current injection mismatches. The proposed SSSC model is implemented without modification in the NR Jacobian matrix. The SSSC is represented by series impedance and two current injections at the terminal nodes. These current injections are calculated every iteration and combined with equivalent load current injections. This approach is compatible with the current injection mismatch power-flow method. It also does not require any update or changes in the Jacobian matrix. The proposed SSSC model is able to control both active and reactive power together or individually. The proposed model overcomes the problem of the power-flow SSSC model which exists when only the SSSC links two sub networks. The proposed SSSC model has been validated and tested using the IEEE data. The results show the effectiveness of the proposed SSSC model for network containing single or multiple SSSC devices.
