Abstract :
Today, with the products becoming more and more complex, the multi-stage process are common in manufacturing industries. In multi-stage process, the final product variation is depended on variations of different stages and accumulation from previous stages. This paper focuses on developing a state space model to describe and analyze the variation transmission through the multi-stage machining process (MMP). On the base of defining and analyzing the features of MMP, we analyze and describe the main variation sources and their influences. Base on the state space, the state equation and output equation are given to describe the transmission of variations for multi-stage machining process. In order to validate the developed model, an example part for multi-stage machining process is given out to illustrate how to model and calculate the variation for MMP.
