Abstract :
A new simple, yet effective two-step bit-and-power-loading algorithm is described for multicarrier transmission. The coarse bit and power allocation to the subcarriers is done at the first step by the means of the direct mapping of the transmit power or bits with regard to the channel gains. Three ways of the final power and bit assignment are proposed at the second step. The algorithm reaches the same spectral and power efficiency as the commonly used Hughes-Hartogs or Campello methods, while noticeably reducing the number of required operations.
