Abstract
A new uniplanar compact electromagnetic bandgap (UCEBG) structure embedded in power distribution network (PDN) for suppression of the simultaneous switching noise is proposed. The key idea relies on embedding UCEBG between power/ground planes instead of replacing UCEBG with one of them. Simulations showed that this new structure has these advantages: noise suppression in few megahertz range (below 100 MHz) and ultra wideband noise suppression (10 MHz to 25 GHz). Full wave electromagnetic simulation is used to study the characteristics of this new structure.
