Abstract
We have developed a position detection system to identify the positions of rescue workers working in tunnels and/or passages in underground facilities using leaky coaxial cables (LCXs). Via LCX, this system sends 2.4 GHz band signals as references for targets and receives 1.2 GHz band signals from targets. With these signals, this system can determine the positions of multiple numbers of terminals placed around LCXs. Experiment results show positions along the LCX are expected to be detectable with an accuracy of about 1 m over the entire 100 m length of the LCX. This system can co-operate other wireless systems such as a wireless LAN system at the 2.4 GHz band and fire department radios over the same LCX.
