Abstract :
This paper presents a novel compensation current detection approach for DSTATCOM under unbalanced conditions based on the improved instantaneous symmetrical components. The principle of the proposed approach is based on the real-time rotating vector which enables calculate the positive sequence component, negative sequence component and zero sequence component of the three phase instantaneous variables. The problem of traditional symmetrical components is solved by using the proposed method. The novel current detection is tested by means of detailed simulation using PSCAD/EMTDC, where the performance is validated in the case of severe network fault and in the case of unbalanced load compensation. The results verify the improved instantaneous symmetrical component is more suitable for compensation current detection.
