Phase II clinical results of 915 MHz interstitial hyperthermia combined with Ir 192 brachytherapy

In the case of deep and semi deep sited tumors it appears very interesting to use an invasive technique to heat the tumor. This technique is used in conjuntion with radiotherapy. Phase II clinical study ; 18 patients (19 tumors) with locally advanced carcinoma of the tongue and 8 patients with second carcinoma (base of tongue) in previously irradiated area, have been treated by means of an interstitial hyperthermia-brachytherapy combination.
