Abstract :
A dual circularly polarized antenna with improved axial ratio (AR) bandwidth is described in this paper. The proposed antenna is a substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity backed crossed slot antenna with a parallel feed configuration. By employing a branch line coupler as the parallel feed, not only AR bandwidth of the proposed antenna is improved by about five times that of a single feed SIW cavity backed crossed slot antenna, but also its dual circularly polarized radiation can be easily switched by selecting one port between the input and the matched ports of the branch line coupler as the feed port.
