Abstract
The total field scattered field (TFSF) formulation of the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) is applied to the marine controlled source electromagnetics (CSEM) method. By separation of the CSEM problem into a linear combination of separate simulation types, the subsurface scattered response is directly extracted, eliminating the need for post processing methods. Each simulation type extracts different information about the CSEM simulation domain, and is optimized to increase the overall efficiency of CSEM simulations.
