Abstract :
An efficient and original numerical technique called scale changing technique (SCT) based on 2D plain decomposition of array geometry has been applied for the electromagnetic modelling of periodic reflectarrays. The radiation pattern and the phase shift introduced to a plane wave under any arbitrary incidence at the incident plane obtained by the SCT are validated using a finite element method (FEM) based commercial simulation tool. The high flexibility of this original approach is much better in time costing and memory requirements than the conventional numerical techniques. Moreover, the modular nature of SCT makes this technique more suitable for rapid parametric study and design optimization as compared to its industrial counterparts.
