Abstract :
This paper outlines THALES ALENIA SPACE activities in the frame of mission´s flexibility in Ku-band. The development of an antenna based on the association of a `focal´ array and a shaped reflector is detailed. Flexibility in Tx pattern coverage is achieved thanks to phase control only at each radiating element level of the array. The key drivers of this antenna are the performance of this `focal´ array in terms of efficiency, mass, volume, complexity and cost. The array architecture concept is developed in such a way to be modular and flexible in use (Rx/Tx Ku+/Ku, Tx only, fixed beam in one or two polarizations).
