Abstract :
This paper presents a high performance three-phase shunt active power filter (SAPF) which is controlled through two cascade control loops, where the PI-based outer loop regulates the DC-voltage across the DC-capacitor while the inner hysteresis band-based loop controls the compensation current. The optimal design and implementation made it possible to obtain high filtering performance. Starting from the complete structure of the shunt active filtering system, modeling and simulations have been done for each part by using the Matlab/Simulink package. After the optimal design of the SAPF´s control has been completed, the filtering performances have been determined based on the simulation of the entire system operation. The reference current has been calculated by using an algorithm based on the Akagi´s Instantaneous Reactive Power (p-q) generalized theory. The full control algorithm, for both DC-voltage regulation and harmonics and/or reactive power compensation, has been implemented by using a dSPACE 1103 based system. Finally, some results obtained in the experimental setup are given.
