Abstract
The paper presents an Isolated Niche Genetic Algorithm to solve the convergence and prematurity problems of basic genetic algorithm. Several competition and elimination criteria are draw into the algorithm and applied to the Power system reactive optimization. Though Binary-Decimal encoded mode to optimize the discrete and continuous variables. Using self-adapt cross and mutation factor to improve the diversity of population and avoiding the premature convergence of the algorithm. Moreover, there are other methods such as keeping the best individual. The simulation results of IEEE 30 and IEEE118 power system show the presented algorithm is effective and reliability and the calculating speed is raised obviously.
