Abstract :
In this paper we propose a simple sum for the calculation of symmetric capacity of Rayleigh fading channel for BPSK (Binary Phase Shift Keying) and QPSK (Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) modulation. This sum provides simple and effective way of numerical calculation of symmetric capacity. Furthermore the paper presents a formula to approximate the symmetric capacity of Rayleigh fading channel. Fading channel capacity is determined by the fading distribution functions GMF (Moment Function Generator). The formula provides an efficient way to estimate the channel capacity. Moreover, with this simple formula, many of the theoretical analysis of the problem can be greatly simplified or become analytically tractable. At the end of the paper the difference between the numerical and approximate calculation is presented. For all calculations we used the Matlab program. The results are implemented in Microsoft Excel program, which is used to graphically display the results.
