Abstract
Hybrid Broadcast Broadband Television or HbbTV is an open standard for connected TVs and set-top-boxes for harmonizing broadcast and broadband delivery of entertainment to the end user. It brings new quality to experience of watching television by adding interactivity to linear broadcasting. Applications optimized to be seen on TV sets can be delivered either by broadcast or broadband channel and complete controlling is done with remote controller. In this paper we present the architecture of a HbbTV middleware that provides basic functionality of Hybrid Broadcast Broadband Television. The presented middleware provides complete solution for HbbTV with a generic platform independent application protocol interface (API) towards TV middleware.
