Abstract
Fast technical and technological development, globalization, the need for unlimited access to education for everybody - these were the most urgent reasons which resulted in education supported by information and communication technologies. This paper focuses on e-learning and related research activities within the Czech Republic. And further investigates the theory - and technology-led approach, terminology of e-learning, classifies research criteria and structures, discusses relations to branch didactics, introduces the Czech approach to research activities, provides data from the Czech university environment and analysis of research studies.
