Abstract
Toyota SA set up a dedicated Energy Reduction Department in April 2010 to focus on implementing an energy management system that is in line with company targets and build on the Toyota philosophy of continuous improvement. Toyota SA has partnered with the Industrial Energy Efficiency Project implemented by UNIDO as a host plant for the implementation of an Energy Management System (EnMS) in line with ISO 50001 [1]. This article highlights the successes and challenges of implementing an energy management system and improving energy performance at Toyota SA year on year.
