  • Abstract
The growing and wide usage of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) has made performance troublesome due to increasing trend in the complexity and size of applications. Designing for performance is crucial on the early development stages while architectural patterns are to be made. In this paper, early consideration of performance is emphasized and a theoretical approach is proposed to deal with the factors impacting the performance negatively, early during design and architecture steps. The nature of proposed performance framework is based on the trade-offs among performance factors. The results of the trade-offs can be used to choose the appropriate architecture for the system under development. The key motivation in this paper is to focus on "what" the performance degradation\´s root causes are rather than how to propose different solutions to resolve performance slowdown.
