Abstract
The effect of excimer laser spot size on carbon laser-produced plasma dynamics is investigated. From intensified charged coupled device fast imaging, at higher fluences, an unusual plume shape was observed, the laser crater effects leading to an arrow like plume geometry. The origin of such behavior was explained through the laser-created crater profile measurements and space-resolved optical emission spectroscopy.
