Abstract :
Extracted the shadow of buildings from remote sensing images for calculating heights of buildings is hot research topic in remote sensing image processing in recent years. This paper proposes the characteristics of the shadow of buildings, selects the seed points used for region growing according to the relevant features between the buildings and their shadows, and then extracts the complete and accurate shadow of buildings through region growing and region merging and calculates heights of buildings. This method is proved to be feasible for the building height extraction by experiment.
