  • Abstract
A modified mode cell filtering (MCF) approach, which is a novel de-noising method and based on advanced empirical mode decomposition (AEMD), is presented in this paper. The detailed procedures are provided and four examples are given to show the validity of the proposed de-noising method. Firstly, AEMD decomposes a multi-component signal x(t) into a number of the so-called intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). Secondly in every IMF the mode cells are defined between the two adjacent zero-crossings. Then the de-noising IMFs are got by using the modified thresholds. Finally the de-noising signal ̃x (t) will be reconstruction by the de-noising IMFs. To test the above denoising scheme, numerical simulations for four test signals are performed. Experimental results substantiate that the proposed method for signal noise separation could separate noises from noise-polluted signals more efficiently.
