Abstract
Through wall imaging and motion detection is an emerging area of research and development. A stepped frequency continuous wave real aperture radar named RA-TWI has been developed for performing imaging and detecting of static and dynamic targets through non-metallic building materials. A simple and effective method based on differential image formation has been proposed to mitigate the strong reflection of the front wall and detect the human behind the wall. Experimental results demonstrated that the RA-TWI radar can penetrate through common wall buildings and detect motions.
