  • Abstract
An 18 to 110 GHz two-arm Archimedean spiral antenna is directly fed using a monolithic ally integrated micro- coaxial Dyson balun. The feed line includes a multi-stage impedance transformer realized to match the nominal impedance of the antenna to 50 Ω. The antenna is designed for and fabricated with a surface micromachining process PolyStrata™ using a predetermined strata configuration. Impedance measurements of the antenna are performed up to 110GHz, with a VSWR <; 2.5:1 achieved throughout the entire measured frequency band. The performance of a similar antenna with a custom tailored strata configuration was also discussed.
