Abstract :
This work presents a measurement setup for the characterization of tunable, non-planar artificial material structures like omega resonators or infinite wire arrays in unit cell or array configuration, which require a connection of its structure to ground potential. The characterization setup is based on a microstrip line design. The extraction of effective material parameters is demonstrated for an array of voltage tunable varactor loaded omega resonators, where the magnetic resonance frequency of the omega resonators is tuned between 1.1 GHz and 1.85 GHz.
