Abstract
This paper studies the coupled motion of wave powering surface vehicle with a hydrofoil submerged under the hull with spring connections. The model of the hydrofoil is borrowed from the potential flow based theory. The frequency domain coupled motion model is then built. Effects of the connection parameters are studied using this model. Both deep submerged and near surface cases are studied. Results show that the mounting position both on the vehicle and the hydrofoil play key roles. Some design suggestions are then drawn from the calculations.
