Abstract :
The accurate time measurement is very important of science research and engineering technologies. This paper introduced a new design method which implements the digital TDC (time-to-digital convert) based on FPGA. This method is nothing to do with the manufacture techniques of IC and can provide hardware efficiency and the software flexibility, so it can be easily reused by any other designers. The author gives all experiments which use the Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGA. Its hardware efficiency and software flexibility have shown by the functional verification. The accuracy of timing simulation of TDC reaches 95 ps.
