Abstract :
A new method is proposed to solve the problem of the aircraft landing congestion in the air by introducing the double direction landing on a single runway in a separating time duration. The conventional mode of landing, which is single direction, is analyzed basing on the runway utilization and the safety separation in queue of waiting to land. The wind effect is calculated to the purpose of the landing length. The result shows that the capacity of the runway can be enhanced twice higher in the double direction landing mode than in the current mode, and the congestion problem may be solved effectively at the current condition. The safety will be satisfied by the wake vortex separation. The new method will reduce the emission of CO2.
