Abstract
Biomechanics are applicable to a normal gait study since gait involves more than 1000 synchronized muscles that move about 200 bones and around 100 joints. Gait is present when automatic and voluntary components are combined for the stability generated by the antigravity support of body weight. Gait controls the multiple segments involved, which leads to a progression that uses energy efficiently. The knee is the most complex joint in the body and its importance lies in giving support for mobility and stability. The knee is additionally related to one of the tendons of greater support for gait, namely the patellar tendon, which contributes to the movement of the knee and allows the extension of the leg when the quadriceps muscle contracts. The patellar tendon analysis can be used for assessment of its own pathologies. The kinetic analysis of the patellar tendon in the sub-phase of loading response - during the stance phase - is presented in this article. This analysis also validates the data obtained with MATLAB and Working-Model, and discusses the results of a static analysis.
