Editorial - Welcome to the 60th volume, issue 1, of the IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics

Over the years, and before I was born (!) our industry has always been highly inventive, creating systems that benefit the consumer in many ways, from entertainment, communications, to health. We have seen technology come, and go. However, fundamental ideas that benefit the consumer in the form of new ideas, algorithms, protocols, etc, all withstand the test of time. It is the search for the fundamental ideas that is behind the ethos of T-CE and why we do not publish papers whose technology is locked to a specific vendor. We continually develop T-CE to archive excellent ideas for future CE based devices and services for the benefit of the CE industry and our readership.
