Abstract :
This paper represent the design and performance of nonplanar post coupled loaded waveguide resonator for band pass filter as well as sensing application, in particular, for evaluating very small flaws on a metal surface [1]. The resonator consists of a rectangular waveguide loaded with a transversally and longitudinally finite conductive post insert that concentrates the current distribution on surfaces and effectively creates a quarter-wavelength resonator. This post coupled waveguide resonator characteristic can be widely varied by changing the geometrical and conductive properties of the inserted posts. Simulations are performed in HFSS (high frequency structure simulator) to demonstrate the characteristics of this resonator using a standard X-band (8-12 GHz) rectangular waveguide with center frequency at 11.2GHz. It is frequently used in designing oscillators, tuned amplifiers, frequency filters and many other networks. Furthermore, presented topologies are sensitive to parameter variations and standard design equations can be used.
