Abstract :
We have investigated the X-ray emission from a solid target irradiated by an intense ultra short pulse laser using computer codes. We have combined the plasma hydrodynamics code, PIC code and Monte-Carlo code for the emission of X-ray from the solid target. This unique approach allows us to make an estimation of the energy distribution of the hot electrons produced during the interaction of the laser and pre-plasma, which determines the X-ray spectrum and conversion efficiency. The calculated result is found to agree with experimental X-ray emission from the 1017 W/cm2, 42 fs laser irradiated Cu target.
