Abstract :
In this article, the design features and some test results of 2.4MJ pulsed power supply system are described. The power system consists of eight capacitive 300kJ energy modules. Each 300kJ module is composed of six 22kV 50kJ 206uF capacitors. Triggered vacuum switch (RVU-43, VEI) was adopted as a main pulse power-closing switch and its operation characteristics were investigated. As a crowbar circuit, we used three parallel crowbar diode stacks, which are fabricated in coaxial structure with two series 13.5 kV, 60 kA avalanche diodes and two 110mO crowbar resistors. The design features of pulse shaping inductors, charging and dump circuit, and other components will be described. The electrical performances of each component and current output variations into resistive loads will also be presented.
