Abstract
Fiber orientation distribution is an important characteristic of nonwoven materials. In this study, the multi-focus image fusion technique is adopted to solve the problems of poor quality and insufficient information of images caused by limitation of depth-of-field of common optical microscope. In addition, traditional tensile testing is conducted. Results show that the new method introduced to compute fiber orientation distribution in the assembly here is very quick and significantly useful in real thermally point-bonded nonwovens.
