  • Abstract
    Results of experiments with Ar gas-puff on the inductive storage generator GIT-4 (1.6 MA, 0.8 MJ) are presented. The experiments were carried out both with single (r=1.4 cm, l=2 cm) and double (r1= 1.4 cm, r2=3 cm or r2=4 cm, l=2 cm) gas-puff. The experiments showed that preionization of the gas shell is necessary to obtain a gas-puff implosion on GIT-4 generator. Using the double gas-puff suppression of the RT instabilities is achieved and argon K-shell, emission can be increased. Breakdown of the inner shell may disturb the gas-puff implosion pattern leading to the decrease of K-shell emission.
