Abstract :
This paper presents a modified quantum behaved particle swarm optimization for power economic dispatch with several equality and inequality constraints. Inspired by the quantum behaved particle swarm optimization method and Cauchy distribution, which has the characteristics of long wings, we introduce the quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization with Cauchy disturbances to perturb the average position. The novel method is good for avoiding algorithm premature. And then we hand constraints with penalty functions to solve economic dispatch problem of power system. Then we apply this algorithm on the 15 units system, the simulation results are presented to show the comparative performance of these methods.
