Abstract
This work studies a newly-invented physical modeling language-MATLAB Simscape-and explores the feasibility and ability of Simscape language in simulating power system for stability analysis. First, the characteristics and advantages of physical modeling method are introduced by compared with traditional modeling method. After the brief introduction of Simscape, the simulation model for several fundamental power system components, such as generator, transformer, load, and transmission line are developed using Simscape. Simulation examples are given and the shortcomings of Simscape are also discussed.
