Abstract
This paper introduces a High Frequency (100 to 300 kHz) Coaxial Transformer (HFCT) with >99% power efficiency accompanied by an optimization work of its geometrical structure. The optimization work is undertaken using Finite Element Method (FEM) based numerical technique in a 2-dimension structure. An eddy current analysis has also been conducted to determine the wire dimension and configuration for the designed 8 kW HFCT. The structural optimization work is focused on the relationship between the winding distance and parameters of the leakage inductance (Leq) and the coupling capacitance (Cps) of the HFCT. Furthermore, a trade-off point is found for the 8 kW HFCT based on the calculation result of Leq and Cps.
