Abstract :
A freeway section can be modeled as a switching system, using the Cell Transmission Model (CTM). In this paper, we propose a method to estimate the operating mode of such systems. The proposed method is based on H synthesis for residual estimation. The estimated residuals are coupled with a logic decision to determine the operating mode of the system. The approach is validated in simulation by using the CTM with parametric uncertainties, fed by experimental data.
