  • Abstract
    We consider an optimal power dispatch problem for a power grid including power generators and batteries as well as demand. Since the grid can be quite large we look at optimizing this grid in a distributed manner, where each local optimization problem can be solved locally in parallel in order to optimize the global cost function. However, most distributed optimization techniques need to assume that every calculation is synchronized. In this paper, we propose a distributed optimization algorithm with asynchronous communication. We then compare both synchronous and asynchronous algorithms with the centralized algorithm by simulating a system to find the calculation time and cost.
