Abstract
In this paper, we propose a method to measure surface compliance distribution of a curved surface object from a remote position for haptic information transmission. We achieve remote measurement by utilizing an ultrasound phased array. The measured surface compliance is estimated by information of distance and gradient dependencies of the acoustic radiation pressure. Finally, the measurement of a real object which has distributed surface compliance and reflectivity is performed.
