Abstract
SCI as an international citation index database plays an important role in measuring the level and competitiveness of scientific research of an institution. In particularly, it reflects the competitiveness level of an institution in basic research of natural science. With the application of SCI function of collection and citation, this paper analyzes and evaluates the situation of science research of North China Electric Power University based on the data from SCI-Expanded database of Web of Knowledge from many aspects, including the quantity, document type, subject distribution, journal impact factor, authors and cited data of papers. And then the paper provides a scientific and reliable analysis for understanding the competitiveness of science research objectively and helps the manager of university making correct decision for the management of science research.
