Abstract
In this paper five-level multilevel inverter based shunt active power filter using space vector modulation (SVM) is presented. Application of multilevel inverter in active filters effectively reduces harmonics in high voltage system without use of bulky and high cost transformer. Reference signals are generated by using p-q theory from sensed supply voltages and load currents. Space Vector modulation scheme is implemented to generate switching signals. The switching sequences are generated with respect to the triangle number, such that there will be one switching per state which reduces the individual device switching frequency. The simulation and experimental results show MLI based APF using SVM eliminates harmonics effectively.
