Abstract :
The structures of collisional plasma shock waves are investigated. The electron number density is given by the Boltzmann distribution. The quasi charge-neutrality is assumed. The effects of the magnetic field are neglected. The Fokker-Planck equation for ions is solved numerically by expanding the ion distribution function in terms of the Hermite polynomials. The emphasis is laid on the thickness of the plasma shock waves. If the thickness is smaller than the size of the pellet, there is the possibility of the existence of imploding shock waves in the pellet.
