Abstract
Previous experiments have shown that a reversed magnetic field configuration can be generated with a rotating relativistic electron beam and maintained with long lived plasma currents induced by the beam as it leaves the system. A net axial current remains which precludes plasma confinement. It is proposed to use a second counterstreaming rotating beam to eliminate this net current and thus produce a compact toroid confinement system. A simple model using flux conservation and magnetic pressure balance is used to calculate the equilibrium and required parameters of the second beam.
