Abstract
The target bearing rate is very important for determination of the target motion parameters. Based on the different target bearing rates obtained by the moving observing-platform respectively before and after its maneuver, a covert, swift and approximate principal method of target range determination was proposed, and aiming at the different typical situations at sea, the target range determinations were simulated by the above principal method. Besides, the correctness of the principal method was also analyzed and validated, and the relations between the target range relative error and the target speed or target initial range or target initial relative bearing were presented as well.
