Abstract :
Experiments have been performed at the 1.5 TW-KALIF pulse generator to study the spatial beam profiles of focusing 30 cm-Bθ proton diodes. and focusing 7 cm-pinch-reflex proton diodes with a radial AK gap. The fine-structure of the focused beam of high-power light-ion diodes is of crucial importance for the beam-matter interaction in HD target experiments and dE/dx-measurements. The r, θ-gross structure of the unfocused proton beams is of particular interest with regard to the beam steering problem, and to the problem of beam propagation in the focusing ion diode.
